Hempfield Soccer Club
Parent’s Rules of Conduct
In order to ensure that the principles of sportsmanship, fair play, skill development, and mutual respect among players, coaches, officials and spectators are the primary considerations governing competition in the Hempfield Soccer Club, the following code of conduct has been established and adopted. We have a zero tolerance policy, where violators of this code will be asked to leave immediately, and repeat violations will result in players being denied future participation in the club.
- Respect the rules of the game.
- Respect the game officials and refrain from questioning their decisions or from addressing them in a loud, disrespectful or abusive manner.
- Cheer for your team in a positive, supportive manner, refraining at all times from making hostile, negative or abusive remarks directed to coaches, players, the opposing team or officials.
- No unbecoming language or negative personal remarks directed at coaches, players, the opposing team or officials will be tolerated.
- Demonstrate appropriate gestures of sportsmanship at the conclusion of the game, win or lose.
- Realize, accept and practice the principles that a team’s reputation is not built on its playing ability, but also on sportsmanship, courtesy, and citizenship of its fans.
- Refrain from coaching the team’s players, including your own child, from the sidelines during the game. Leave the coaching to the coaches.
- Decrease the pressure to win. Remember that soccer is meant to be fun.
- Believe that soccer’s primary value is to provide youth an opportunity for self-development.
- Control negative emotions and think positively.
- In competition, someone always loses. If you win, do it gracefully, not boastfully. If you lose, do not allow yourself or your child to become negative.
