Verified juggling scores must be submitted by May 15th and October 15th.

 

What is juggling? Juggling is the art of keeping a soccer ball up in the air with your feet, thighs, chest and head.  It is a simple but powerful way of improving your soccer skills and, most importantly, it is FUN!!

How do I start? Hold the ball out in front of you, take a deep breath to relax you, and then drop the ball down to the laces on your shoes.  Try keeping the ball up for 2 or 3 times before catching it again.  Do this until you feel comfortable and then start trying to beat your score.  It’s that simple!!  (more experienced jugglers should start with the ball on the ground and use their feet to lift it up).  Two rules: no hands and no bounces on the ground! Try to remember to stay calm and relaxed when juggling and keep the ball close to you.  Also, try to use both feet and different body parts.  Change it up!  Challenge yourself!  Juggling can be done anywhere and on any surface...the driveway, your yard, at a playground or while warming up for your soccer game! The only equipment you need is your soccer ball.

 

Why Juggle? Juggling can significantly improve your game in many ways.  It develops your touch and confidence on the ball, not to mention concentration and consistency, all of which helps your overall game ability.  It challenges you every time you pick up the ball and you will find yourself improving as a player without even realizing it!

Track your scores and improvement on a personal record sheet that is available to print at the bottom of this page. Challenge your teammates and your friends to competitions. Have a juggling party and see who wins the competition.  Have an adult keep track of the scores and submit the winner to us! Remember to submit your highest verified score to us to win awards!

How do I have my score verified? To have your score verified you must juggle in front of a coach or adult. They will then email verified scores to Seamus Donnelly, Director of Player and Coaching Development at sdonnelly7@hotmail.com. At Club events throughout the year we will have special juggling areas set up for you to show your stuff and staff will be present to give you tips and record your scores. We will only post scores on May 30th and Oct 30th, which gives you plenty of time to work hard and improve your scores right up until the final submission dates. Maybe you can even challenge your coach!

Important!!  If you find you are struggling instead of juggling, don’t be afraid to ask your coach for help and advice.  Even better, stop Seamus the next time you see him and ask him for some tips or to show you some tricks.  Don’t get disheartened!  Get help to get better!  Keep it up!
